For German company FSRU Wilhelmshaven GmbH, Baars has deployed its Jack-up Boyne as a mooring pontoon in a special piling project at sea. A Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) is permanently moored near the Wilhelmshaven pier. This FSRU unit receives cargoes of liquefied natural gas from tankers all over the world and re-gasifies the liquid substance. A floating jetty is currently under construction for this regasification FSRU unit.
Baars Jack-up Boyne: more than a mooring pontoon
Jack-up Boyne supports offshore piling project for FSRU Wilhelmshaven. It is not just the standard modular Jack-up Boyne, measuring 24.38 x 12.19 x 1.83 metres, that is being deployed. Baars has added several additional features to successfully support the project. These include fencing, fenders, smit brackets, safety ladders, dragline bulkheads, navigation and light masts, additional steel reinforcements and profiles for material storage. Baars also provides additional services, such as stability calculation and optimisation of the deck layout, including safety signalling, to deliver an optimally functioning lifting pontoon. The photos above, taken by Casper van der Kloet, show the Jack-up Boyne in action during this project.
Environmentally friendly choices: Use of bio-oil
Baars chose to use bio-oil in the hydraulic system of the Jack-up Boyne. This choice underlines the company’s focus on sustainability and contributes to reducing the ecological impact of their marine projects. Something we are proud of!
Logistics and assembly: everything in own hands
Baars organises the transport of the Jack-up Boyne to Wilhelmshaven entirely in-house, using road transport. Assembly and servicing is taken care of by Baars’ own team, both during loading of the trucks in Sliedrecht and during assembly at the project site. This approach ensures seamless execution and high quality of the work delivered.
Dedicated project engineer: Single point of contact
For this project, and for all others, Baars appoints a dedicated project engineer. This engineer is involved in the engineering and construction of all additional facilities, as well as the transport and assembly of the equipment. After assembly, he performs a health check of the platform and remains available to resolve specific incidents. With this, Baars offers its customers a single point of contact, which simplifies communication and coordination.
One-stop shop: From delivery to service
Baars offers not only the Jack-up Boyne, but also all the additional facilities the project requires. Transport, assembly and servicing are fully taken care of by Baars, making the company a true one-stop shop for marine projects. This integrated approach ensures that customers can count on a streamlined process.
Conclusion
With the deployment of the Jack-up Boyne and its additional facilities, Baars made a significant contribution to the piling project for the FSRU in Wilhelmshaven. By keeping everything from transport to assembly and service in their own hands, Baars can guarantee high quality and reliability. Companies looking for a partner that provides a complete package of services can rely on Baars’ expertise.
