for the Danube<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Baars is developing and delivering two innovative <strong>640 m\u00b3 E-Split Hopper Barges<\/strong> for VERBUND Hydro Power, designed for operation on the Danube. This project marks an important step in the transition towards <strong>sustainable, zero-emission marine construction and dredging operations<\/strong> in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>From the initial concept stage, the focus has been on creating a future-proof, fully electric solution. The barges will be deployed for maintenance operations around hydroelectric power plants, where <strong>reliability, efficiency and operational continuity<\/strong> are essential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Innovation and Engineering<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working closely with international partners, Baars has completely redesigned and further developed the existing split hopper barge concept. The engineering scope included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>concept and detailed engineering<\/li>\n<li>structural and stability calculations<\/li>\n<li>integration of electrical and hydraulic systems<\/li>\n<li>design in accordance with <strong>ES-TRIN regulations<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This integrated approach has resulted in a robust, future-ready platform for sustainable dredging and marine construction operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fully Electric Configuration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each <strong>E-Split Hopper Barge<\/strong> is equipped with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>onboard battery packs<\/li>\n<li>a fully electric hydraulic system<\/li>\n<li>an electric bow thruster<\/li>\n<li>a <strong>100-tonne electric SENNEBOGEN material handler<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Together, these systems create a <strong>zero-emission working platform<\/strong> with low noise levels, high energy efficiency and reduced maintenance requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strong Partnership<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within the Neptune Group, Baars works closely with partners including C-Systems, which is responsible for the electrical installation and energy distribution.
