The Sophiapolder will be turned into a nature island, as a result of which a special oasis of peace and quiet will be created with a spacious freshwater tidal region with reed-land and reed brushwood in the middle of the activities of the Drechtsteden. Contractor Gebr. Van de Lee has selected split hopper barges from the 160, 240 and 335 m3 series and two 800 m3 hopper barges from Baars Charter. The company expects to conclude the activities in the middle of November.
