Since February 2011 Fugro is using 3 working platforms of 24 by 12 metres on the Concordia Lake in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany) composed of couple pontoons of Baars BV. From the platforms drilling is carried out in the bottom of the Lake. By comparing the drilling samples with those from previous years people are trying to find out if there have been any movements in the soil and if so in what directions. A major shift of soil material would be a cause of a bank subsidence such as this took place in 2009, which took 3 lives and a number of homes that disappearedin the Lake.
