A. Baars Azn Exploitatie van Baggermaterieel B.V., trading under the name of Baars Charter has, since its establishment in 1925, specialised in the leasing and sales of dredging barges, namely elevator barges, split barges and hopper barges especially for (contaminated) mud.

The current leasing fleet comprises:

• Dry-well hopper barges ranging from 70 to 475 m³ hold capacity.
  The dry-well hopper barges with hold capacity of 72 m³ can each be dismantled into four (4) sections. Each section can be transported on a semi-trailer to the destination where the four (4) sections can subsequently be coupled together in the water. 
• Hopper barges ranging from 500 to 950 m³ hold capacity.
  The characteristic of this type of barge is that the hold is proportionally larger in comparison to that of elevator barges. Therefore these are especially suitable for the transportation of mortar, whether or not contaminated, which has a low specific weight. Furthermore these barges can be fitted with steel covers.
• Split barges ranging from 160 to 700 m³ hold capacity.
  The split barges of 160 m³ as well as one of the 200 m³ barges can be dismantled into four (4) sections and transported by road on semi-trailers.
  Of the abovementioned split barges, two (2) pieces, each of 450 m³ are still under construction. They are expected to come into service in the summer of 2007.
